Daisy’s Closet: Dresses (My Guilty Pleasure)

Dresses are hands down my favorite thing to wear. As demonstrated here, I have a lot of them. 22 dresses didn’t make it into the pictures; there are 30 dresses featured below.

The 22 that didn’t make the cut were either too wrinkly (and, I as too lazy) to show up well in pictures, look similar to a dress in these photos and therefore pointless to post; or, they’re in my dirty laundry basket waiting to be washed.

Of the dresses that are not posted below, I have

2 work dresses (one gray tweed, one black satin with neck bow)
2 black cotton dresses
1 grey cotton dress
1 purple cotton dress
1 pink cotton dress
1 orange cotton dress
1 brown vintange-looking dress
1 flower and paisly colorful dress
2 LBDs – 1 BCBG and 1 generic
1 long sleeved navy cotton dress
1 denim dress (which is adorable but doesn’t sound adorable)
1 brown and pink paisley dress

and, various others that I don’t recall just now but are kickin’ around.

Unless there are a few that I just don’t remember (very possible), this brings me to a total of 51 dresses.

This does not count skirts, but does count beach dresses (there are a few of those in the pics below).

Dresses are great for a few reasons.

1) Most dresses (unless form fitting) hide everything

2) They’re a one-stop shop. You don’t have to wear anything but the dress. Great for when you’re quickly running out the door

3) They’re comfortable. So, so comfortable

4) You don’t have to match anything with them, except for perhaps a cardigan in case you get cold. Or a jacket.

5) They’re frugal. Even if you gain or lose 10 lbs, you can usually fit into the flowy, A-line dresses still.

This is just dresses. I will be posting about my skirts, tops, and other things in an effort to remind myself that I can shop in my own closet.

Do you like dresses? Am I the only one that thinks they’re the best items of clothing ever?

  1. I love dresses, but I have no where near 50! I think I may be sitting somewhere around 10, with 5 that make it into regular rotation. I live in them on my days off in the summer.

  2. I never wore dresses in my teens, but a few years ago I started buying dresses and I have never stopped! I love love love dresses, I don’t know why I was so against them. As you say, they are easy because you just need to decide which dress you’ll wear, you might need a cardigan for some of them, but if you have some neutral cardigans that go with everything, this shouldn’t be a problem. They’re also so so pretty :) (not unimportant…) and, last but not least, they are usually really comfortable, more comfortable than jeans I must say! I don’t know how many I have – I think I have about 10 in my closet right now, and there are must be some in my closet at my parents (I estimate 15-20 though), but as I’m abroad I haven’t been there in a while and I wouldn’t know for sure what I left there.

  3. I only have 3 dresses. I’m like Cassie I only wear them in summer. I like dresses. but for some reason I just don’t feel comfortable wearing them out. I’m more of a jeans person.

  4. I love dresses. My only issue with most that are made and marketed to my demographic is that they don’t allow for a bra and/or the neck line dips too low. I just feel too exposed with most wrap tops and am supposed to project a professional image, so the peek-a-boo bra straps with spaghetti strap dresses just don’t work.

I’m not really a high maintenance person, but I do have specific requirements for clothes I’ll buy: comfy, mostly natural fiber, and must be machine-washable. That really slims down the options!

  5. Wow – that’s almost twice the dresses I have… ;) And NOBODY wants to see 30 pics of me in dresses (headless or not…). There’s one in my high school yearbook and that’s it :)

  6. I’m totally with you! Love dresses! When I was pregnant in the summer, all I wore were maxi dresses..I swear I had like 14 of them! With me, when it comes to a particular “style of dress”, I tend to go overboard and build up that collection (like my summer when I wanted nothing but “southern belle” type dresses. I still have them (and wear them). This post reminds me it’s time to take them out of storage and send them to the cleaners.

  7. Ok, I totally want to go shopping and buy cute sundresses!

I am more of a skirt person, but dresses are a great way to boost your self esteem. You can’t help but be happy wearing a dress!

  8. You are too cute! ;)

I love dresses because they are so easy!! I’m still not able to fit in a lot of my pre-pregnancy pants (I’ve got 10 lbs to go!!!), but the dresses fit. So much easier.

  9. OMG!!!! This is an awesome post. I really wish we lived next door to each other so I could borrow some :P

I wish I had the balls to wear dresses but I honestly feel like “myself” when I wear leggings, skinny jeans, shorts, capris, yoga pants, etc. I need to get into more of a dress gal cuz dresses are so cute!!!!

  10. I love dresses too. I made a post recently on this and I had over 57, and I recently bought some more. UGH! But seriously they are the best thing to wear.

  11. I love dresses too. Like you said, they’re quick, easy, and there’s nothing to match. Dress them up with heels, dress them down with cardigan and flats. I particularly like dresses for summer traveling because they’re cool (temperature wise) and don’t take up much space in my suitcase.

  12. :) I like them too, but I don’t like to have too many things in my closet. It makes me claustrophobic – I start to feel like I can’t find anything in the clutter. I have 2-3 that I wear to work, 2 for the summer, and 1 for winter.

  13. Yay for dresses! I love them for all the same reasons you do, but mainly because it’s just so easy to look polished and put-together without having to worry about choosing a top and a pair of pants. Dress + tights + boots is my winter wardrobe. Then I swap the tights and boots for flats, and it’s my summer go-to look!

  14. If I had to pick one without being creepy I am going with the black one in the third row…

How long did it take you to try all those on lol

  17. I saw this post so long ago and never commented, but I LOVE your dresses! They’re all so cute and look so good on you! I recently started shopping at dress911.com and I feel like I can’t stop even though I only have about 10 dresses in my closet. I need to start wearing them more! Now, if only the weather in Edmonton would cooperate…
