June Recap and July Goals

June Recap

June was a decent month. I haven’t really looked at my spending yet but I will, and when I do I’ll get to judge exactly how good it was, financially.

I only looked at my goals once during the month of June, and so I didn’t anticipate doing very well on them. For my new goals, I will have to put them somewhere more visible. That way, I’ll have to see them every day which will be a great reminder that I should be working toward them.

Here’s how I did on my June goals.

  • Alexa ranking down to 45K - FAIL

I’ll admit that I didn’t really do anything that I’d planned to do to bring my Alexa down. My traffic has steadily been increasing, my subscriptions have also been increasing, and I’m kind of over Alexa. I’m not just saying that because I didn’t reach my goal, I just don’t see it as a very helpful stat.

  • Pay for parking only once per week ($25 over the month) - PASS

I believe I paid for parking only three times (which would indicate less than once per week), except when I had to drive around for work to different sites and pay for parking there, but I’m not counting that as it is reimbursable.

  • Bring my lunch to work 20 of the 23 work days – Sort Of Pass
I’m giving myself a sort of pass because I actually don’t remember. I know I bought sushi one day and soup two days. I think lunch out with a co-worker who was leaving was in June but the month went by so fast that it could have been in May. So who knows! In any case, I know I at least almost passed, because I did bring my lunch more often than not.

  • Get an A on my finance exam - Fail

Wow, did I ever fail at this one. I got 50%. Not even close to an A. I almost failed the exam. Senioritis, for you. I have to do well on the next one to bring my grade up.

  • Go to the gym 2x/week – PASS

This was a definite pass. I don’t know if it was all of June that I went to the gym at least 3-4 times a week, but it averaged out to at least 2x a week, if not way more. I think I lost two pounds, too. The gym scale isn’t very reliable, so I am not sure of the exact number.

July Goals

I really liked my June goals, in retrospect. They were attainable without being super easy. Plus, I have a Finance exam soon, so I’ll have to carry that one over.

Guys, July is my last full month of school. Ever. I graduate in August, and my biggest assignment is due on July 20. I am very excited.

I need to have another blog related goal, so my goal is to have 50 Facebook likes on my fan page (I created a fan page!) by the end of the month. Who wants to help me with that goal? ;)

  • 50 Facebook Likes (I’m at 21 right now)
  • Pay for parking only once per week ($25 over the month)
  • Bring my lunch to work 20 of the 23 work days
  • Get an A on my Finance exam
  • Go to the gym 3x/week

After August, when I graduate, I’ll be able to create some real goals. But for now, the small ones will do.

  1. Nice e-card haha, mine is probably watching tv while on the elliptical. I wouldn’t give a hoot about the results on a finance exam  . What matters is real life experience and understanding how the financial world really works. You are already a pro star on financial topics because of how active you are around the pf blog community  . Schools don’t always do a perfect job preparing students for life.

  2. I know exactly how you feel about your Alexa! My number of subscribers has increased a ton, yet it keeps going up. I guess people who have the Alexa toolbar don’t like my blog :P

  3. I’m starting to realize that Alexa might just be a fun tool for daily check-ins. You can’t check your page rank daily because it won’t update daily, but Alexa does! So, whatever. Though I do appreciate your caveat, “I’m not saying that just because I didn’t reach my goal” — :)
