Saturday Links & Blogs I Love: Facebook Edition

I call this the Facebook edition because I finally broke down and created a FB fan page for WLGYL.

I’d love it if you’d log in and like it (except for you, mom. Not from your personal account – lol), and check it out. It’s still in it’s infancy, and it’s kind of sad looking but I’m working on it.

I’ve also made an effort to try to become a little more active (just a wee bit) on Facebook in my personal life. Since I moved, I’ve kind of fallen of the map with regard to Facebook and other personal social media, simply because finding time for connecting with old friends via this channels is almost impossible.

But I know I shouldn’t let my personal life fall to the wayside in lieu of this blog, my work, school, and life in Vancouver, so an effort I shall make.

Do you use Facebook?

Posts I Loved

American Debt Project posted about how car owners can stick to a budget and save money. This is something I’ve been thinking about lately because they’re about to toll a bridge that I cross every day to get to work, to the tune of $3/pass. That means $6/day, on top of my gas ($200/month), parking (which I rarely pay for but is $4.50/day) and car payments/insurance..it’s expensive!

Which leads me to another favorite, paying off car loans, by Careful Cents. I’ve made a few extra payments on mine, and I’d love to kick it to the curb by the end of next year (3 years before my loan is due).

Katie from Along For The Journey proposes that you kill the procrastination bug and get things done! I’m a huge fan of productivity.

Emily from Evolving PF talks about obligations on her husband’s side hustle – taxes, etc – that make it a little less dazzling.

FemmeFrugality posted about what to do financially if the world truly is ending. When the world ends, I hope that I’m not worrying about money, and instead that I’m spending time with friends and family.

Finance Fox lists some things that are more important than money. There are a lot of them!

Erika from From Shopping to Saving posted about why she loves having a female boss. I have always liked my bosses (almost), and I’ve only really ever had female bosses.

Over at KrantCents, there is discussion about problem solving skills, which are very important!

Blogs I’ve Been Enjoying

I’m definitely not the most active on the blogosphere lately but I’m still skulking around reading and tweeting.

iHeartBudgets

Roshawn Watson

Blue Collar Workman

All Things Finance

Retire By 40

Funancials

The Family Finances

Obviously there are many, many more to this list since I spend a lot of leisure time reading blogs, but if the list gets too long nobody wants to read it!

  1. Thanks for the link love! I actually made a facebook page for my blog too but I just don’t want to deal with it haha. Maybe I will try again but for right now I just don’t feel like putting effort into a FB page too! :(

Loved your picks.. I’m doing mine today too!

  2. We do have a facebook page, but I kind of hate it :( I don’t know how to use it!!! I don’t know how to “like” anyone from it (although I’ve figured it out after messing with it for a few hours.) and it’s just not cute! I might pay someone to maintain it for me…you know, after we make it big!

  3. Thanks for the mention! I’m on facebook…it was my social media go-to before I was encouraged to join twitter. Thanks so much for the mention! I know I’m crazy to be so worried, but I already have the whole family called off for that day, and we’ll be spending it together…just in case :p

  4. I never know what to do with facebook for my blog. I have my real profile, my blog profile, and I just created a fan page, too, but I don’t know what to do with it! I’ll start taking some hints from your page :)

  6. I “liked” you on facebook :) . Also, how are you holding up in Vancouver with ALL THIS RAIN?! I’m just south in the Seattle area, and I’m going nuts! Oh well, summer’ll be here soon….for a week….maybe…

Thanks for the mention, hope you had a great weekend!
