This is a guest post

Okay so, this blog is called Add Vodka for a reason. It’s a little-known fact that when you add vodka to anything in life you’re probably going to have a little more fun, am I right? I kid. But seriously, everything in moderation.

Everybody likes a nice late-night martini here and there, right? But how many of you can say that you’ve had a Dr. Vodka?

In all honesty, I’m not a huge drinker. Don’t get me wrong, I love my wine on the weekends or a cocktail with dinner, but sometimes it’s nice to experiment!

The following uncommon drinks are all fantastic. I will say this, however: if you make any of these drinks at your place when new friends are over, you are obligated to refer them to this blog. Just sayin ; )

Ingredients:

2 cups of water

1/2 cup of coffee of your choice

2 cups of sugar

2 drops of vanilla extract or one half of a minced vanilla bean

1 1/2 cups of vodka

Boil the water and sugar until it is mixed together very well. You can do this in a small pan. Prepare your coffee of choice and add it to the mix.

Next, mix your vanilla with the vodka. Allow your water and sugar mixture to cool until it is a syrup and then mix your vanilla vodka and syrup together. Place in a Mason jar and leave it in the fridge. You want to shake this mixture up every day for a couple of weeks allowing it to age.

Finally, you’ll strain this mixture through a coffee filter over another mason jar. All you need to do is wrap a rubber band around the coffee filter at the top of the Mason jar and pour slowly.

You can serve this on ice or straight up in a martini glass. Be careful though, because the caffeine in the coffee makes this mixture pretty powerful!

This one is simple. All you need to do is combine 1 ounce of vodka with 2 ounces of Dr. Pepper. If you want the carbonation to remain I would avoid serving this on the rocks and simply serve it chilled. Dr. Pepper is an uncommon mixer but it is much better than Coca-Cola in my opinion (hint, hint sponsors!)

1. Coffee–Vodka
