Some people may hold garage sales in summer and fall, but why not have one in the spring? While you’re cleaning out your home, make a pile specifically for items that you can put in your garage sale. 

Of course, you may have to play around with dates, since springs are known for being unpredictable with the weather. However, you’ll get a head start on the competition. You would also appeal to those who are looking to replace their old items after spring cleaning! Garage sales are a great way to make money spring cleaning, and you’ll be able to clear out more all at once. 

Trade in Your Electronics

With so many electronics coming out every single year, you are bound to have a few that you could part with. If you are looking to buy a new phone, tablet, or computer, you could earn make money spring cleaning, and say goodbye to your old electronics. 

Many cell service companies offer the option to trade in your phone for a new one. But, you may have better luck sending them into a company that specializes in small gadget trades.  

For your bigger items, like TV’s and game consoles, check out local electronic stores. They should have a trade in program. For items like games, you could always try a store like GameStop. Although you may not get as much money as you would from selling directly, you won’t have to worry about the hassle of selling the items yourself.

Sell Your Clothes

One of the easiest ways to make money spring cleaning is to sell your clothes! If you find clothes that don’t fit, or that you just don’t want anymore add them to your for sale pile. 

There are so many different ways to sell your clothes. You could add them to your garage sale, try to sell them at a second-hand store or consignment shop, or even sell them online. There are apps and websites that cater to selling your clothes, or you could use the old standbys like Ebay.

Don’t forget to go through your family’s clothes too. Most kids outgrow their clothing super quick, and if the clothing item is in great condition, you could possibly get the money that you spent on it.

Tons of stores cater directly to children and will buy your child’s clothing, or you can try selling it all yourself. Just make sure that all the clothes you sell are clean, pet hair and smoke-free, and don’t have any holes or other marks on them that wouldn’t make them wearable.

Sell Online

If you haven’t tried to sell your old items online, now is the time to start. With websites growing to accommodate e-commerce, second-hand items and online thrift stores have gained popularity.

Take photos of items that you didn’t sell in your garage sale, or that you know could ship easily. Make sure to accurately describe the item, and keep in contact with people. If your item is fairly priced, has decent pictures, and a great description, it should sell super fast!

If you are wanting to sell locally, you could always try Facebook groups or websites like VarageSale. That way when someone buys your item, you don’t have to worry about paying for shipping. Just agree on a time and place to meet, and get rid of your stuff for some cash! (Side note: please always be safe when meeting up with strangers you met online).

  1. I always have a garage year every year. I schedule it three weeks or 1 month before the school year starts as people are looking for stuff. I sell clothes and I collaborate with friends for them to sell their stuff too.
